Tag Management

Why you should use a tag manager to implement call tracking

Generally, Delacon’s call tracking code is fairly easy to implement. Thanks to some recent innovations,  our simple one line code automatically updates the phone numbers on the web page the code is implemented on.

However while simply inserting the code into the <heads> of the website may be easy for some who have the required technical knowledge, for others it can be quite challenging.

Furthermore, when rolling call tracking out across a large website, across multiple verticals or even across multiple websites, adding the code manually to every page can be a time consuming and often complex process.

Thankfully, Delacon’s solution is integrated with a number of tag management platforms, allowing for easy deployment of our code across your website.

What is a tag?

A tag is a line of code placed in the <head> of a website which generally enables other platforms to perform reporting, analytics and other services on your website. The Google Analytics code and remarketing codes are examples of tags.

Delacon’s call tracking code is also a tag.

What is a tag manager?

A tag manager is a software platform which rolls all software tags into one simple and easy to use box called a container.

In this container, all tags are placed and it is where tags can be added, removed or updated when necessary.

By using a tag manager,  instead of 10 pieces of code sitting in the <head> of your website, you will just have the tag manager container code. This code then talks to the tag manager backend to know what to do and when with each particular piece of code.

Should I be using a tag manager for my Delacon Call Tracking code?

There are two main reasons why you would use a tag manager to implement Delacon’s call tracking code:

  1. If you have a complex website setup with call tracking being rolled out across multiple website pages or verticals or even across multiple websites, a tag manager may make adding, removing or updating the call tracking code easier.
  2. If you are not part of the team responsible for maintaining the website but need flexibility to update the tracking code when needed. A tag manager can make this easier and may require less technical expertise than editing the code through the website backend. This may be especially useful in large organisations where IT department are less flexible with time and you may need to book their services.
What tag managers are Delacon integrated with?
